When Two Becomes Three

When Two Becomes Three

Today we will take a tour of a completely renovated apartment, touched by professional hands from top to bottom and everything in between. We will take a look at what was done to each room and discuss what the owners wanted when they walked into their new space. This tour will go room by room and it will hopefully give you some ideas as to what you can do in your space.

This completely renovated home started off as any normal 2 bedroom home but it needed a change. The first change that was needed is to make this two-bedroom home into a three-bedroom home. The owners are a couple with a teenage son and they wanted to make sure that there was enough space for all of them to be comfortable and stylish. The design style is a unique blend of modern and industrial feel.

The living room is a great showcase of modern comfort. The first thing that you notice is the showcase charcoal grey wall that the comfy sectional sofa rests up against. Then your eye is drawn to the beautiful wooden bookcase entertainment unit on the opposite wall. This unit houses books, movies, and electrical components and a classic mix of decorative pieces strategically placed on the shelves for maximum exposure. Adjoining the living room is the kitchen and dining area. The long island unit in the spacious kitchen is cleverly designed to give the owners enough space for the family to eat, prepare a meal and even entertain should they want to. The washing machine is cladded neatly and hidden from direct view at the end of the island unit which gives a clear laundry section at the end of the kitchen, our laundry had to be industrial washing machine Australia one of the best brands on the market. The kitchen and dining areas are separated by a clear glass partition and the homogeneous floor tiles in two distinct but corresponding colors. What stands out at the kitchen area is also the pop of color at the bright yellow painted window wall which provides a great contrast to the rest of the neutral and clean space.

A very important area of the home…. Bathrooms! These bathrooms are a class in industrial design with the exposed pipe work. Can we talk about the beautiful stark white toilets, vanities and sinks with the shiny stainless steel fixtures matching the classic industrial concept at its best! Even though you have all these elements, there is no lacking in comfort and coziness in the bathrooms.

So how did 2 become 3? The designer makes clever use of the space by breaking down the storeroom and re-creating it into a bigger space to become a proper bedroom! This became the teenager’s bedroom painted in neutral wall colors. The room is accessorized by the furnishings which allows him to jazz it up in his own style. The guestroom is just as beautiful as the other bedrooms and can be used as a working area as well as a place for someone visiting. It was enlarged by reducing the size of the living room and rebuilding the wall to straighten it to a proper rectangular space. This room will give you a feeling a of great hotel but without the room service. The last space is the master bedroom. It is a retreat as I would like to call it with its great wood tones in the headboard and floor against the simple white walls. The master closet rivals just about any high-end boutique with fine carpentry wood-like laminate finished to give you a proper walk in closet feel.

This newly renovated home is a master class on the combination of elegant modern style and industrial living to give the owners a feeling of simplicity and peace that they will have for years to come.
